It's YOUR life
I think a problem with my industry is that so many advisors take a cookie cutter approach to financial planning. But your financial decisions need to be made in the context of your life, and your life doesn't look like anyone else's.
I think that most of us grew up believing that money was like sex and politics - not discussed in polite company. This had led us ill-equipped to deal with the emotional issues that surround money, and maybe left us with a belief that it should all fit neatly on a spreadsheet.
Whilst I absolutely know that money isn't everything, I do think that in order to live a happy and fulfilling life you have to be free of financial worries. Only then can you truly focus on what is important to you in life and achieve your highest aspirations.
