What I have been reading - 5th October 2020

As always, I love sharing the interesting things I have read. Here are my picks from the past week:

The names are never the same:  Larry Swedroe tells an important story.

I had lost all hope: Clorox wipes are still the hard-to-find pandemic item:  A NYT article starts to uncover this mystery. "Finding a canister feels akin to winning the lottery or finding a pot of gold."

Incremental solutions in pursuit of a clear goal:  A short and simple article from Tadas Viskanta. I like this thought-process around incremental solutions - just because one solution doesn't work by itself doesn't mean we shouldn't adopt it along with other measures.

True wealth:  Here's a question we should all ask ourselves every now and then; "Has my life been too focused on the accumulation of things that won't last - or have I been building true wealth?"  Read this article for a lovely reminder of what true wealth really is.

Women are dropping out of the labor force faster than men:  This is not good news.

Amazon will now let you pay with your palm in its stores: This is pretty amazing and an example of how innovation has sped up during this crisis.

Is the Ford F-150 partially responsible for the retirement crisis?:  Articles on cars always get people fired up!  If I tell you that we have never bought a new car then you might get an idea of my thoughts on the topic.  Ben Carlson addresses it well here.  "Driving an inexpensive car is one of the biggest levers people can pull to free themselves up financially to save more."

FINALLY:
When should I use a financial advisor: This is a brilliant explanation of what we can and can't do, as advisors.  If this resonates and you are not a client, drop me that line!

ENJOY!
