What I have been reading - 11th February 2022

Here are a few things I enjoyed reading recently:

Why you should sit out the mayhem: Jason Zweig from the WSJ reminding us of a few investing basics.

Big Skills: Compounding isn't intuitive, which is why so many people fail to benefit from it. Morgan Housel explains how it's the same with the application of a bunch of ordinary skills that together make magic.

On building resilience: I enjoyed this short article that lists things we can do to make ourselves more resilient.

Are we bullish enough?: Everything is always doom and gloom in the media. This is welcome, and mirrors a point I made in my year-end newsletter (you can get it here).

99 good news stories you probably didn't hear about in 2021: If only there were more stories like this perhaps we would be more inclined to believe the possibility posted in the article above!

Golden Age Thinking: The good old days were not as good as we think. This is a fun read from Ben Carlson.

How could I have been so stupid???: "Pundits agendas are the diametric opposite of long-term investors."

The Algebra of Wealth: I really enjoyed Scott Galloway's book "The Algebra of Happiness" and this article is equally good. He is a great writer and every nugget of advice is wise and true. If you absorb the lessons in this article you will know most of what you need to know.

FINALLY:
Your Professional Decline is Coming (Much) Sooner Than You Think: This is a long article, but worth every minute that you will dedicate to it. If you are a professional entering your 50s and thinking about the second half of your life, you will find this powerful and thought-provoking.

ENJOY
