Success versus Happiness
I love this quote that came up as The Economist's quote of the day yesterday:
We talked a lot about the meaning of success at the #NextGenInspire event and this has also been the topic of my recent workshop 'The Wealth of Self' with the inspirational Cheryl-Dean Thompson.
Money plays a big part in success and happiness, rightly or wrongly. Of course, money doesn't buy you happiness. But I do think that if you are stressed and anxious about money it is difficult to find true happiness.
The most important thing to realise is that it's not about 'how much?' but it's about answering the question 'what does money have to do with who I am?'
There are many different ways to look at money. One way is to look at it as your life's energy. We get most of our money because we work for it. The whole process of dealing with our personal finances should honor that life's energy. It should be about how to squeeze the most joy from the resources that we have.
If you want to delve into this deeper, be sure to sign up for the next (and last) of 'The Wealth of Self' sessions on Tuesday 29th November. Drop me a line at gloxton@ifp.ky to secure your spot.
